  • Data Center Operations provides facilities and operational support to the Information Division. The operations center is organized into three functional areas. These functional areas support Norfolk Public Schools’ data systems and voice telecommunications. Data systems supported include business information, student records, and web based information.

    The Operations Center…
    is responsible for the physical operations of the district server rooms. The group monitors and maintains the physical environment where information servers and various data communications equipment are housed. The staff monitors the district’s data communications and server networks to detect and resolve problems as they arise. The operations center also provides various support services including specialized printing and document handling.

    Production Control…
    serves as the interface between the data center and the user community by answering and routing incoming phone calls, receiving requests for service, scheduling work, and distributing work product such as printed materials including payroll checks and student grade reports.

    Telecommunications…
    includes facilitates planning, design, and implementation of new and upgraded telephone services for voice, fax, and data communications. Services include both wired and wireless telephones as well as cellular data communication. Working with the Technology Planning area, Norfolk Public Schools has introduced TCP/IP telephony to improve telecommunications service within the district without the need to add additional wiring within the buildings.
