A Collaborative Beginning
Launched in 2024, the name of this program was developed in collaboration with students from Norfolk Technical Center as part of their class project titled “A New Era for the Grandy Village Learning Center – NTC Advertising Design II.” Since its inception, the program has hosted numerous community events aimed at supporting families in transition throughout the school year.
The Family Welcome and Wellness Center, home to this program, was created as a safe and supportive space for families across all Title I schools in the Norfolk Public School district. It serves as a hub where families can access vital resources to help them succeed, especially in alignment with our district’s core priorities: improving attendance, promoting literacy, and fostering accountability.
Below is a timeline highlighting our valued partnership with Norfolk Technical Center students, whose creativity and dedication played a key role in shaping one of our district’s most impactful programs.

The Office of Early Learning and Title I would like to give a huge thank you and shout out to the students displayed in the photo above who made this vision possible! Your work is valued and appreciated.
