    All students will demonstrate growth in literacy skills as measured by:

    Pre-Kindergarten:  performance on the PALS assessment, improving four out of eight subsets as evidence by the fall and spring PALS assessments.

    Kindergarten: performance on the PALS assessment, improving scores in 4 out of 6 subsets as evidence by the Fall and Spring PALS assessments.

    First Grade: performance on the DRA:  with students who are not identified as exceptional in the areas of special education, speech, ESL, or gifted meeting the DRA benchmark or growing 3 DRA levels; and with students who are identified as exceptional in the areas of special education, speech, ESL, or gifted meeting the DRA benchmark, growing 1 DRA level, or improving their dolch word knowledge by 10 words.

    Second Grade: performance on the DRAs; with nondisabled and non ESL students meeting the 2nd grade DRA benchmark or increasing 3 DRA levels and students with reading IEPs and ESL students increasing 2 DRA levels.

    Third Grade: performance on the STAR assessment. 100% will improve on the STAR reading assessment this year, including ELL students, special education students and gifted students. 50% will make one years’ growth according to their GE score. 50% will show growth within their performance level according to their GE score.

    Fourth Grade: performance on the STAR assessment by increasing one grade level equivalent by the end of the year.  Students who receive special services will show 4-6 months growth by the end of the year.

    Fifth Grade: performance on the STAR assessment by increasing one grade level equivalent by the end of the year.  Students who receive special services will show 4-6 months growth by the end of the year.

    Middle School: performance on the STAR assessment by increasing one grade level equivalent by the end of the year.  Students who receive special services will show 4-6 months growth by the end of the year.
