Dr. Nathaniel Morris

Dr. Nathaniel Morris leads Granby High Evening School (GHES), where the mission is to assist high school students and the adult community in obtaining an excellent and equitable education.

Dr. Morris has been an educator with Norfolk Public Schools since 1996. He has served in various capacities, including as a teacher at Lindenwood Elementary School; a math specialist at Campostella Elementary School; Dean of Students, Athletic Director, and School Transformation Facilitator at Lake Taylor Middle School; and then as a Numeracy Support Specialist at Lindenwood Elementary. In 2017, he became the Adult Education Program Director at GHES. This school year marks his sixth year in the position.

Mrs. LaToya Holley, Office Manager

Mrs. LaToya Holley began her career with Norfolk Public Schools in 2001 as a secretary at Norfolk Public Schools Evening School at Lafayette Winona Middle School (now Academy for Discovery at Lakewood). In 2003, she was promoted to Student Data Specialist when the Evening School program was moved to Granby High School, and in 2011, she was promoted to her current position of Office Manager.

She attended ECPI College of Technology where she earned her Associate Degree in Accounting in 2004. She then attended Old Dominion University where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Accounting with a minor in Decision Science.

Mrs. Holley’s goal is to serve and support the students and staff of Norfolk Public Schools and Granby High School Evening School as they strive to achieve their goals.

Ms. Ruby Alston, Student Data Specialist

Ruby B. Alston is a Lawrenceville, VA, native who relocated to the Norfolk area to attend college in 1981. Today, Ms. Alston is a proud graduate of the class of 1985 of Norfolk State University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (Management Information Systems) and a 2012 graduate of Tidewater Community College where she earned an Associate of Applied Arts degree in Administration of Justice.

Ms. Alston began working for the City of Norfolk in 1997, and is currently the Command Secretary for the Norfolk Police Department’s Detective Division, where she hopes to remain employed until she retires. Because of her professionalism, exacting attention to detail, and exemplary skill set, Ms. Alston has been recognized as Civilian Employee of the Quarter several times, and ultimately Civilian Employee of the Year. Ms. Alston attributes her professional success to solid relationships with colleagues, positive communications, and mutual respect. She has an ear for listening and a passion for helping and nurturing people.

Ms. Alston has been employed by Norfolk Public Schools as the Student Data Specialist for Granby High School Evening School since March of 2018.
