We’re so glad you’re here! Whether you’re enrolling your first Hornet or adding another to the Hive, we’re excited to welcome your family to Richard Bowling Elementary School. Our registration process is designed to be simple and supportive—just follow the steps below!
Registering for Pre-K?
All Pre-K students must first complete an application online to determine in which school their student will be placed. See the District Pre-K Page for more information.

Once your child has been placed at RBES by the district, in order to finish the enrollment process, you will need to make an appointment for enrollment with our Student Data Specialist and submit a completed copy of the RBES Registration Packet and bring in the required documents listed below for in-person verification; please call 757-628-2515 to make an appointment.
Registering for Grades K–5?

If Richard Bowling Elementary is your zoned school, print out our RBES Registration Packet here or come to the school to pick up a printed copy. Additional information for our Kindergarten students is available here.

Required Documents for In-Person Verification
Bring these documents to your scheduled meeting:

Original or certified Birth Certificate

Proof of Address (e.g., utility bill, lease, or mortgage)

School Entrance Physical (within the last 12 months)

Immunization Records

Photo ID for the parent or guardian
If transferring from another NPS school, only proof of residence and ID are required.
