Greetings P. B. Young Students and Families!

 

It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve you as your Assistant Principal of the Plummer Bernard Young Sr. Equity & Excellence Learning Center Elementary School.  My name is Phillip Hawkins, Jr. and I am so excited to welcome you to the 2025-2026 school year!  

 

I am excited that our school has been selected to continue to be an Equity & Excellence Learning Center (EELC) in Norfolk Public Schools.  Our Equity & Excellence Learning Center school will provide meaningful enrichment and engaging learning opportunities, family engagement, wraparound supports, and strong community partnerships based on needs that address the social emotional, physical, health, and academic needs of students. Our EELC program will bring educators and community partners together to create a high-quality school with an integrated approach to academics, health and social services, youth and community development, and community engagement.

 

I am here to serve your children in their quest and journey to learn and grow.  Our goal is that every child receives a world-class education here at our school and beyond, no matter what.  I oversee Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports Programs (PBIS), School Attendance, Student Discipline, and Special Education Services.  At Plummer Bernard Young, Sr. Elementary, we will continue our commitment to equity and excellence for all students "From Vision to Victory...NO MATTER WHAT!"
