School districts were informed today that Virginia Department of Social Services (VDSS) experienced a technical issue wherein a small percentage of customers across the state who have SNAP or Virginia Sun Bucks EBT cards may have seen a pending transaction for benefits that now is voided.
This is not a Norfolk Public Schools issue. Norfolk Public Schools does not have access to the VDSS SUN Bucks database and therefore cannot answer any questions about which households are affected, where SUN Bucks cards have been mailed, or what households should do. The VirginiaSUNBucks.com website and the VA SUN Bucks Call Center 1-866-513-1414 (available 9:15am-6pm) are the primary sources of information for households.
VDSS issues communication updates for the public on their social media channels, primarily Facebook. Households should check social media for VDSS updates.
If the household cannot get answers from the VDSS website or call center, the next point of contact should be the local Department of Social Services office.
Households with questions about their SUN Bucks benefits and about submitting or status of a SUN Bucks application should contact VDSS via the website, VirginiaSUNBucks.com, or the SUN Bucks call center at 866-513-1414 (toll-free) Monday through Friday from 9:15 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Note, for the SEBT application, proof of citizenship or legal status and the last four digits of the SSN are not requirements of the federal SEBT regulations. Households do not have to include that information for the application to be reviewed or approved.
