I was selected Exemplary Professional School Counselor of the Year in 2011, Teacher of the Year at Ruffner Academy in the 2010, School Counselor of the Quarter in 2006, and a School Bell Award Recipient in 2005. I am a current member of the American School Counselor Association, the Virginia School Counselor Association, and the Norfolk Federation of Teachers. I consider my role as a School Counselor, supporting students, families and my school a joy and privilege. I enjoy middle school students. I feel that this is such an important time of their development, and I can make a positive impact on them. These are challenging years for them, and I strive to make the “ride” as smooth as possible.
